This photo I took last Summer at the Lava Flow, on the southern edge of the Bend city limits, right on the banks above the big Deschutes river.
Those mighty ponderosa trees are normally very straight and become the giants in the forest around us.
But this one grew out of the black hard lava, and must have had a lot of tough years trying to stay alive.
I did play around with this photograph, and made the subject a lot wider and gave it a watercolor texture.
It looks like a giant bonsai tree. (oxi-moron word ?)
